In Forest Glen, Scouts help to bridge generations, teaching climate action to adults and other youth.
Scouts, parents, and troop leaders from Boy Scout Troop 626 installed 40 rain barrels at homes and businesses, educating residents about water conservation and stormwater management.
They also installed a climate-friendly native garden and 13 bat boxes in natural areas across the community.
Girl Scouts from Ambassador Troop 20804 planted a vegetable garden in straw bales to teach neighbors about natural gardening techniques and healthy eating...
...and then created and decorated environmentally-friendly walkway stones.
Some Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts working on this project received awards and badges, like this Boy Scout Soil and Water Conservation Merit Badge. Two Boy Scouts received their Eagle Scout awards, and a Girl Scout received the Gold Award--the highest awards you can get as a Scout.
