In Forest Glen, homeowners take great pride in the upkeep of their houses and lawns. A tidy outdoor space – especially in the front of the property – is of high importance.
So when homeowners were approached with the opportunity to receive rain barrels, many were wary of the aesthetic impact a large, plastic barrel would have on their residences.
But Boy Scouts found ways to work with homeowners to make them comfortable with their new rain barrels.
Some barrels were camouflaged by shrubbery; some were strategically placed to blend in with house exteriors; and others were put in prominent positions to encourage neighbors to install one of their own.
